sheroes live with lucius

ABOUT this week’s guest:

For those that are newcomers to Lucius, the origin story begins with Jess and Holly who met through their roommates at Berklee College of Music in the mid-2000’s. The connection was immediate, and they haven’t stopped singing together since. Like many musicians do, Jess and Holly headed to New York City to pursue their careers and soon would move into a Victorian house in Ditmas Park Brooklyn that they found on Craigslist. a place that would become known to many fans as the Bromley house: the birthplace of the band we now know as Lucius, and the namesake of their first album, Songs From the Bromley House. As you’ll hear in our conversation today, this was the point at which Dan Molad and then Pete Lalish joined in 2010, and since then Lucius have become known for their goosebump-inducing harmonies, their mirror image costumes, and their amazing live shows. Over nearly 20 years, Lucius has recorded five albums, two EP’s, and Jess and Holly have become in-demand collaborators, with countless credits to their names, including a couple years of touring and recording with Pink Floyd legend, Roger Waters, performing with Joni Mitchell, and recordings with Harry Styles, Brandi Carlile, Mavis Staples, Jeff Tweedy, and many more. Fair to say that Jess and Holly have become some of the hardest working, most beloved, and most sought after voices for artists to work with. But after regrouping to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Wildewoman with an expanded re-rerecording of that album and subsequent tour, as well as finding themselves newly rooted in the importance of family, the members of Lucius realized that it was time to return to themselves. The result is their most fully realized album to date.
