Spotlight On:HINDS
ABOUT this week’s guest:
If you need an infusion of never-say-die attitude, with a huge dose of joyous BFF energy, you’ve come to the right place because this week, we meet the Spanish garage-punk-pop band Hinds. Founded back in 2011 in Madrid, Spain, Carlotta aka Cece Cosials and Ana Perotte bonded over their love of music and became best friends as they watched their guy friends play in bands. When they discovered their own musical chemistry, a fast commitment was made that endures to this day: they were a band. Hinds started as a duo, then became a four piece that recorded and released three albums - 2016’s Leave Me Alone, I Don’t Run in 2018, and The Prettiest Curse in 2020. The pandemic years brought about hard times, and the dissolution of Hinds as they knew it. They split with their management team, left their U.S. label and, in late 2023, their drummer and bassist left the band. It was a moment of reckoning and re-evaluation, but ultimately, Cece and Ana came back to that core commitment - together, they are a band. With the spirit that brought them together over a decade ago, Hinds got back to being a duo, and recorded what became their fantastic fourth album with the appropriate title - Viva Hinds!
