We've lit 85 birthday candles for Joan Baez this week with a newly refreshed version of our interview at the 2024 Newport Folk Festival. A meaningful return, the very first Newport Folk Fest was where an 18 year old Joan Baez got her start in 1959, and her appearance in 2024 marked the 65th anniversary both the festival and Joan's career-launching debut. 2024 was the first time since 2009 Joan had appeared and joined SHEROES in conversation on the festival's Foundation Stage to share some of her poems from her new poetry book, When You See My Mother Ask Her To Dance. She reads from her book during our interview, and treats us to a powerful impromptu a-capella song.
